Larimar
A rare blue variety of pectolite found almost exclusively in the Dominican Republic, prized for its beautiful ocean-like appearance.
Ranges from pale sky blue to turquoise and deep blue, often featuring distinctive white cloud-like or wave-like patterns.
Mohs hardness: 4.5–5 — keep away from prolonged water exposure, harsh chemicals, perfume, and strong impact.
Traditionally associated with calmness, peace, emotional healing, and gentle communication.
Believed to encourage emotional balance, self-expression, patience, and a more peaceful state of mind.
Often called the “Stone of the Caribbean,” symbolically connected with the soothing energy of the sea and tropical waters.
Fun fact: Larimar was only officially recognized as a gemstone in the 1970s, although the blue pectolite deposits had been encountered in the Dominican Republic much earlier. Its name combines Larissa, the daughter of the man who rediscovered the deposit, with mar, the Spanish word for “sea.”
