What is Leopardskin Jasper?
Despite its name, leopardskin jasper is actually a type of orbicular rhyolite, not true jasper. It forms from silica-rich volcanic magma that cools too quickly to crystallize, capturing minerals like feldspar, quartz, and organic material. These inclusions create its distinctive spotted patterns—resembling animal fur, flowers, or sea life—making each piece completely unique.
