Hackmanite is a rare variety of sodalite known for its fascinating color-changing ability, a phenomenon called tenebrescence. When exposed to sunlight or ultraviolet light, hackmanite can temporarily shift in color—often from pale lilac or grayish white to a deeper violet or pink—then gradually return to its original hue when placed in the dark.
