Iolite
A naturally violet-blue gemstone known for its beautiful pleochroism, showing different shades of blue, violet, and grey depending on the viewing angle.
Pansy Blue Iolite refers to an especially attractive, saturated blue-violet color reminiscent of the deep tones of a pansy flower.
Mohs hardness: 7–7.5 — avoid harsh chemicals, prolonged water exposure, and strong impact.
Traditionally associated with intuition, inner guidance, clarity, and self-discovery.
Believed to encourage clear thinking, confidence in decision-making, and a deeper understanding of one’s path.
Often called the “Viking’s Compass,” iolite is symbolically connected with navigation, direction, and finding your way forward.
Fun fact: Viking sailors were believed to have used thin pieces of iolite as a primitive sun compass, as its pleochroic properties could help reveal the position of the sun even when the sky was partly cloudy.
